Natural History of Mild Degenerative Cervical Myelopathy: An Observational Study (NHDCM)

Dr. Jefferson Wilson leads this prospective observational study tracking patients with conservatively managed mild degenerative cervical myelopathy over five years. Using clinical, radiological, and biomarker data, the study aims to identify predictors of disease progression and inform decisions between surgical and non-operative treatment options.

Cervical Myelopathy Severity Index (CMSI)

Dr. Jefferson Wilson leads this multiphase study developing and testing the Cervical Myelopathy Severity Index (CMSI), a new patient-reported outcome measure for degenerative cervical myelopathy. The first phase involved patient interviews to generate relevant items, followed by clinician review for importance and feasibility. The second phase focused on item reduction through ratings by both patients and clinicians, resulting in a 14-item CMSI tool. This measure is now ready for validation in a prospective multicenter cohort study before clinical and research use.
